Adeje

Adeje is a municipality on the south western edge of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. It is a part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Adeje is a fast-growing suburb with an estimated population of 27,640 (in 2003). Mount Teide is a prominent mountain in the area. The principals activities in this area are linked to Playa de las Americas and the Adeje Coast.

One of the main attractions in Adeje are the Barranco del Infierno, the Santa Ursula Church, the convent an the Casa Fuerte.

The Barranco del Infierno is the perfect place to enjoy the tranquillity of nature and the characteristic flora of Tenerife. This is a particular place in Tenerife because it is a big contrast between the environments that surround the park; the south of Tenerife is usually too dry, but this park is like a green jewel in the middle of the south desert. Besides this natural treasure you should not deny to forget to watch to big wales, dolphins and all the other aquatic animals.

On the other hand Casa Fuerte and the Santa Úrsula church are too important monuments in Adeje. The Casa Fuerte, the high house, nowadays is in ruins. Constructed in 1556 its propose was to protect the properties from the pirates. The Santa Úrsula church was constructed in the 16th century in one hermitage.
