The Cave of Chinguaro is an important symbol of Guimar in pre-Hispanic times. The site consists of a natural cave and a few man-made dwellings and houses. Historians believe that the area once served as an ancient temple.
Casa de la Raya
This is a 16 th century house that was built by Francisco de Vargas, a sugar plantation owner of the period. The house was converted into a hotel in the late 1900s, specifically catering to European vacationers seeking warmer climates to treat ailments of the lungs.
Casa de Santo Domingo
The House of Santo Domingo is one of the more important of the historical houses of Guimar. It is located on its namesake street, Santo Domingo Street. The house was constructed in the mid-17 th century and at various points has served as the residence of a number of important people in Guimar.
